Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit.
I would like to introduce myself through a haiku written by Basho. While he is writing about poetry, his words guide me as I see the world through a camera’s lens.
You can learn about the pine only from the pine, or about the bamboo only from bamboo. When you see an object, you must leave your subjective pre-occupation with yourself; otherwise you impose yourself on the object, and do not learn. The object and yourself must become one, and from that feeling of oneness issues your poetry. However well phrased it may be, if your feeling is not natural—if the object and our self are separate—then your poetry is not true poetry but merely your subjective counterfeit. ~ Basho*
Please note that all images included in this blog have been created by me if not otherwise noted. If you wish to share please make a notation of this source.
Again thanks for visiting. Leave a word or two…I would love to hear from you.

Thank you Brenda for following my blog… I just followed yours too. Cheers! 🙂
distant companions sharing different paths, 🙂
I like the image on this page, the sisters. It’s a great painting. Is it your work? I’m also interested in the name Saldage. Is it someone’s name?
Thank you. Yes the mari sisters is one of my drawings. The word saldage was introduced to me as a Brazalian word translated, “homesickness for a place that cannot be”. A powerful word that describes a lot for me.
Thx. I accept your gift. It is a welcome kindness in this unpredictable unimaginable world. Namaste.
thank you. namaste
Art therapy is a wonderful tool for those who can’t words to their feelings, or those who can’t even identify their feelings. Great blog 🙂
Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment. As I was watching an art educational video, I realized spontaneous creativity requires an understanding and respect of all the art materials being utilized – an effective guiding principle to generalize into the choices I make on a daily basis. 🙂
oops, meant to write ‘those who can’t put words…’
continuing with my previous reply, otherwise I might find myself in a muddy mess 🙂
Very well said Brenda…
I loved your thoughts…..

Thank you. The images on your blog tell a story of how you are living a dream 🙂
Hello Brenda, would you like to translate “saldage” for me?
my introduction to the word “saldage” noted that it is a Brazilian word, homesickness for a place that cannot be. My personal meaning, homesickness for a place, a time, or person who cannot be.
Oh, you mean “saudade” 😉
“saudade” ? so my source spelled the word incorrectly?
I enjoy your writing and nominated your blog for the sensual blogging award http://wp.me/p2MIsj-c0 No obligation to do anything with it, it’s simply a token of appreciation.

thank you … words have the potential to inspire creativity
Yes. When written or spoken from a deep eternal inner that doesn’t preach or judge, but simply appear as they are, open and honest with no pretense. Those words opens us by pointing towards something that can be truly sensed. And the gift of those words let the listener quietly be and thereby leaves it up to each to take with them that which resonates. I find your words and photos coming from this “place”.
..far, far away….past the demons….past the righteous….past the angels….past the sinners….perhaps even past the creator…..there is a field…..i hope to meet you there sometime….

“Within all of us there are powerful emotions within our souls that remain voiceless and silent until they are conveyed through imagery and symbols. It is through creative endeavors – drawing, cooking, writing, painting, gardening, poetry, child rearing, photography, weaving, reading, work – that a woman may be able to give “voice” to that which words cannot convey.” Yes 😀
Thank you…your “yes” is validating…thank you, again 🙂

Greetings from India.Interesting to go through yours ‘about me’ and the meaning of ‘saldage’ & the Portuguese explanation. Though confusing initially, on a deeper thinking ,got the point. Thank you. Thank you also for going through my blog.
Thank you for visiting and taking the time to write me a note. Looking forward to seeing your future blogs
Namastê!!! Brenda!!!

lovely blog
Thank you for taking time away from nature to visit:)
Love the photos and the words. Together they paint a very lovely picture. Maybe it is my own ignorance but I do not see a way to coment on each photo individually. Thanks for the experiance…
Thank you for taking the time to visit and share your thoughts. I didn’t know there was a way to comment on photos…will explore. 🙂
Before I read the backstory of the word “saldage”, it sounded to me like: “wise one” – as in sage. I think I will hold on to that interpretation too. Your photography is very thought-provoking.
Thank you for visiting and especially for sharing your thoughts. I experience a silent smile at “thought-provoking” since it suggest an invitation to pause and ponder in a ‘fast click-like” world. To invite a moment to nourish the restless soul.
‘Saudade’ sounds very close to the Sanskrit/Hindi word ‘Mrigtrishna’ which literally means Trishna (thirst) of a Mriga (Deer) which is an expression used for constant outward chase of the superficials to achieve happiness and satisfaction which exists within.
Interesting read!
I am grateful that you took the time to visit. Someone once shared a Celtic word that held a similar definition…but I misplaced it. But as I thought of the similarity within these words…I wonder if their beauty describes the emotional and psychological realm of the Hungry Ghost?
The title ‘Meditative Journey’ caught my attention and the writing very much justifies the title.
I just read your “About” — I am sitting here amazed that there is a word for something that has been with me all my life, even though I am now seventy two years old; it has never left me—- “a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness. (cited in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudade)”
Thank you for visiting Carol. It is nice to meet someone who understands this life-long relationship with “Saldage.”
Nice to meet you!
Thank you for taking the time to visit. It is always great to hear from other bloggers.
Agreed!! 😀
I love the word, saldage. The first syllable sounds like soul—and that’s always a good starting point.
It is great to meet someone who loves this word and to associate it with “soul” deepens the translation.
Hi Brenda! I am interested in your post https://ameditativejourney.wordpress.com/2019/09/20/seven-remembrances/
I found this on earth holder, too. I had a version that included some links to a Thich Nhat Hanh book I didn’t know. Now I can’t find this annotated version anymore. Do you still have the original source? I would be glad to get hold of the book title.
A flower for you, Tobias
Good day Tobias. Is this the link you are looking for https://earthholder.training/earth-based-mindfulness-practices/
