listen but not hear.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis create film and theatre scores that are elegantly minimal, hauntingly beautiful and instantly recognisable as theirs alone. Full of light and shade, creeping dread and inconsolable yearning, these heavily instrumental sound paintings inject aching humanity into ghostly frontier towns, parched desert vistas and post-apocalyptic war zones. Most are built around the duo’s intertwined piano and violin melodies, with sporadic use of guitar, flute, mandolin, celeste, percussion and other elements. Vocals are rare and sparing. But even without lyrics, they are always lyrical.
Is the water bottle an apparition?

The CDC notes that since plain drinking water has zero calories, it helps with managing body weight and, when substituted for sugar drinks, it reduces caloric intake. Water prevents dehydration, a condition that can bring about unclear thinking, mood changes, overheating, constipation, and kidney stones.
So…the appearance of water bottles within daily activities has me wonder if during the years when there were no marketed water bottles were most children impacted by various levels of dehydration? Why this question…because as I reflect back to my childhood, I cannot recall drinking water other than an occasional water foundation sip and a summer water hose gulp.
Koolaid, yes. Water, no.

The Horsetooth Reservoir in Northeastern Colorado is one of the most popular recreation sites for boaters and campers. On the water, the capacity of boats ranges from 300 to 350; therefore, it is not uncommon for boaters to experience delays during the peak of the summer season.
It seems that January’s chill managed to allow one person the freedom to enjoy the H2O absent of crowds and delay.

“It is such a secret place, the land of tears. …One runs the risk of weeping a little, if one lets himself be tamed. …And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me.”
